But they can also be used to enhance sexual pleasure and connection for those with physical challenges or health issues, explains Lisa Lawless, Ph.D, founder of Holistic Wisdom. “Those with mobility issues or who struggle with arthritis may find that sex toys allow them to enjoy sexual stimulation more easily,” she says.
